General

Go to the page of your chosen programme and sign up using the sign-up button.

Secondary education is provided at the Montessori College, School 23 and the Ster College. These schools are affiliated with Summa College. Go to our full list of schools (dutch).


Full = the programme is full and you cannot sign up.

Waiting list = the programme is full but has a waiting list. If a place becomes available, you will receive a notification.

Limited number of places = some bol programmes have a limited number of places. This has to do with the number of available internships. There is therefore a chance you will not be accepted for that programme. We recommend you also register for another programme.

To be able to follow a programme, you must meet certain pre-education requirements. These are different for each programme. On our website you will find the degree or transition certificate you need in order to register.


When can I be admitted to a programme at Summa College?
Basically, anyone from 16 years of age can attend vocational training at our college. For adult education, a minimum age of 18 applies. The admission conditions vary per programme and level; check out the programme of your choice. Once you have signed up, we will check if your pre-education is in line with the education you want to follow.

Basically, Summa College only accepts students with the right pre-education. If you have the option, it's always better to get a diploma. In exceptional cases you will be able to be admitted without the right degree. Contact the school for more information.

Yes, that's possible. If you have a certificate of transfer to havo 4 and are at least 16 years of age, you are welcome on all Summa College level 3 and 4 courses. 

If you do not (yet) have a citizen service number (BSN), and therefore do not have a DigiD, you can request a special access code from the administration of the school where you want to sign up. You can use this access code to register via inschrijvenmbo.nl.

After you sign up you will receive a notification within 10 working days. You will also receive an invitation for an introductory meeting. During this meeting, which lasts 2 to 2.5 hours, you can see if the programme really fits you. At the end you can confirm your choice for the programme. If the programme doesn’t seem to fit you after all, our study advisors will help you to consider your options.

It is not necessary to have a command of Dutch at the start of the course, but to successfully complete the course, you will be examined at Dutch level 3F. The entire program is taught in English.

If you do not speak Dutch, you will receive some support for this. In practice, it appears that this is not enough to successfully complete the course. We advise you to take extra lessons in Dutch during your studies, or to work for a Dutch company, etc.

On mbo

Our education is focused on four levels:


Level 1 - entrance programme

You perform simple tasks. You work under supervision and assist others in the work.

Level 2 - basic professional

You perform standard work independently

Level 3 - professional

You work independently and you can organise and plan. You assign tasks to employees.

Level 4 – middle management officer

You perform work completely independently. You guide and coordinate activities in a department or in a small company.

Level 4 - specialist

You perform work independently and you can perform specialised work.

Before the start of your study program, you will receive a message by email about an Education Agreement (Onderwijsovereenkomst, OO) or Professional Practice Agreement (Beroepspraktijkvormingsovereenkomst, BPVO). This is a legal document that states what your and our obligations are. The OO must be signed by you and the BPVO by you and the work placement company. The school principal has already signed.

In accordance with the law, both the OO and the BPVO are only valid when we have a signed copy in our possession. If the OO or BPVO is not valid, you cannot obtain a diploma – it is therefore very important that this is properly arranged!

Digital signing
The OO and the BPVO can be digitally signed. This is done via the internet, you do not need to print anything. You need a DigiD to digitally sign the document. You can read more about it here.

Signing BPVO
The BPVO will be simultaneously sent to you and the work placement company for a digital signature. If the work placement company refuses to sign the BPVO, you will be informed about this in your school e-mail. We will investigate why there has been a refusal. You will then receive a new message.

This is how you digitally sign the agreement
1. Make sure you have your DigiD data at hand.
2. Click on the link that you receive via email.
3. Read the document carefully.
4. If there are incorrect data in it, click on 'disagree'. You will then enter a new screen and fill in the 'reason for refusal' box.
5. If there is incorrect data on the form, click on 'next' and follow the instructions on your screen.

After all parties have signed the OO or BPVO, you will receive a signed copy in your school email.

Financial matters

The tuition fees are determined each year by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

If you would like to have an indication of the costs of the programme of your choice, go to the description of the programme.

In our guidelines tuition fees (pdf, in Dutch) you can read which costs are paid by the school and which you have to pay yourself.

On DUO's website you will find more information about how and when to pay tuition fees. If, due to your financial situation, you or your family are unable to pay the tuition fees and additional study costs, you may be entitled to the Emergency Fund. Travel expenses are not reimbursed via the Emergency Fund.

Mbo students following a full-time bol programme are entitled to travel expenses. With a 'Student travel product' you may travel for free or at a discount.

Administrative questions

For questions about your registration, learning materials (books and such), the start of the school year, and other subjects, you can contact the school where you are registered. This also applies to parents who cannot log in to the parent portal.
